Volunteer Sign-In
Responsibilities:
Please make sure that all show volunteers sign in AND out. Remind those signing in that they will need to sign out, and to sign out and in again if they want to take time to shop and/or socialize. Additionally, ask volunteers to make sure other volunteers are signed in and out. This is VERY important, as nobody can be credited for working if they're not signed in and out. Anyone signed in should have a nametag-- collect these at sign-out, or when someone's out on break, so we know who's supposed to be working and who's not.
Note who's working for what student. Make sure you understand the share system (1 share of show proceeds per band student, with at least 6 hours worked). PLEASE try to notice if a volunteer worked less than six hours and remind them of this! If they do not have enough hours, we can probably work them, or a family member or friend, into the schedule somewhere. Additional hours benefit everyone and are welcomed!
Each student volunteer should be assigned to a specific adult volunteer working the same shift. The "supervisor's" name should be written on the student's nametag. It's OK to write "food" or "admission" on kids who are working in those areas, but all others should be assigned. No adult should have more than a few students assigned to them.
Regardless of hours worked, volunteers MUST stay for the entire shift for which they're signed up. There will be a few exceptions (you can decide which are worthy and which are not), but this is especially important during tear-down—NOBODY leaves until the last piece of tape is off the floor and the last tarp mopped and put away, unless they've got direct permission from the show managers!!!
Each volunteer coming to work should be given a “Free Pop” ticket, to be redeemed at the food concession. Volunteers working consecutive shifts should be offered an extra pop coupon and lunch at the food concession (sign them out and back in again). An extra master for coupons is included in the folder; send someone to make more if necessary. Please let parking-lot volunteers know to ask for hot beverages/soup/food as needed; we try to pamper these hardy souls. A few Friday volunteers will likely stay through both layout and setup; these will likely be treated to pizza between shifts (note that this privilege is NOT extended to incoming setup students!).
You may have a few people show up who aren't on the schedule. Please write them onto a separate sheet, and assign them wherever help is needed.
Lastly, remind everyone (including yourself) to SMILE and represent their band well—Thanks for all the help!
