Tear-Down

You will be responsible for helping the artists get their displays out of the building, and for general tear-down and cleanup of the show — taking down signs & tables, removing tape markings, mopping the gym, etc.

The show closes at 4pm; artists must exit the building by 6 pm, and often we are done before this time. PLEASE keep this in mind as you plan to get enough hours (SIX ARE REQUIRED) to earn a share of show proceeds.

Whatever the time, you will not be permitted to leave without direct permission from the show chairs; so if you have an evening obligation that requires a certain departure time, please make them aware of it when you check in. Please let whoever's picking you up from the show know that you will CALL when you need to be picked up. Otherwise Mom may have to wait for you—and we'll put her to work, too!

You will probably be working outdoors at least part of the time so dress WARMLY! Gloves will be helpful regardless of the weather, as some artists have wooden displays that may have splinters. Please wear your band shirt if you can, and remember to smile and represent the hand well. Our show prides itself on the excellent service provided by our volunteers so keep up the good work!

MAKE SURE that you sign IN and OUT when you come to work, and get a name tag with both your first and last name. Remind others to do the same. Remember, we cannot credit you for working unless you’re signed in and out properly!

All student volunteers must be assigned to a specific adult volunteer. Write this "supervisor's" name on the student nametag; everyone please keep track of their "kids" or "parent"!

When you’re not busy helping someone, please return to the sign-in area. That way we know where to find you when someone does need help. Be willing to help wherever you’re asked, and keep your eyes open for people who might need help.

Volunteers working previous shifts on Saturday may be offered a free meal from the food stand before it closes. Please don’t abuse this privilege. Sign out when you take a break, and back in again when returning to work. Be on good behavior the whole time you’re at the show.

As a safety precaution. make sure that you are with other volunteers anytime you are helping outdoors or in a remote area of the show. Please look out for one another, and report to the show chair or management any crafter who makes you feel uncomfortable and/or unsafe.

Thanks for volunteering for this important job; if you need anything, please ask us!
